Ideal for first-time beginners and those who are new to running a half marathon. The program uses a blend of running and power walking in training and racing.

Hear some of their amazing stories. This proven 14 week plan is designed for beginners. Many veteran runners have posted personal best times after switching to this run walk method! You should always consult your healthcare provider before beginning any fitness program. We answer each and every email. Most of our updates have been suggestions from our community. See why our community has made us the 1 5K training app. So I am 24 years old and have had two knee surgeries and for the last 5 years I have made every excuse to not have to try and get back to my previously athletic self.

I have struggled mostly because of self esteem and every workout was difficult because it was mainly speed oriented and distanced. Needless to say the day after a workout I would be unable to walk. The nice thing about this workout is it is challenging but realistic and not painful to do.

I actually look forward to working out. I highly recommend it. This app is unfortunately really disappointing! I am training for my first half marathon. I wanted an app to help me build a training schedule, give tips, and where I would be able to input all of my workout data. This app has no customization, and really offers practically nothing for your money. You can only track your designated daily workout, which is only running or cross-train, and you must have the app open while doing these in order for the workout to be documented.

It only tracks time, not distance or anything else. There is no video, no suggestion, no tips, nothing. And I definitely do not enjoy having the app open with beeps and vibrations while I am trying to run or work out!

Annoying app, no customization, take your money elsewhere! Hi there! We are very sorry that you have experienced this and we’d like to make it up to you. Could you please contact us with the brief issue you have experienced via contactus zenlabsfitness. Hope to hear from you soon!

First of all, read the description before buying this app. This isn’t an app that trains you to run a half marathon the whole time. Once you know that, go read the research about how interval training is the way of the future and even professional runners are doing it. It’s not for the weak. I’m coming back from a torn ACL and 2 surgeries so I need to take it slow and be smart. This app is amazing for exactly that. I hate having to time myself during interval training and the built-in instructions make it so I don’t have to.

Add in some workout jams and I’ve got a perfect training partner. I usually give up on these apps after a few tries. But I’m still going strong and that Napa Valley half is looking closer every day! The following data may be used to track you across apps and websites owned by other companies:.

Every app is a little different. Some have features dedicated solely to running, while others serve as broader workout apps that include running features. Regardless of whether or not it is running-specific, a good running app will, at a minimum, allow you to keep track of your runs, including time and distance. Ideally, it will also offer features like custom motivation, access to an online community, goal-setting, training tips, and more.

Running apps and walking apps are similar in form and function, but they often differ in content, training plans, and support.

Both apps are designed to track metrics like miles, pace, distance, and time, but running apps often come programmed with training plans for specific races such as a 5K or marathon.

They also feature longer running routes and trails that support a faster pace and workouts. Some have extra tools like calorie counters and heart rate tracking capabilities. The main difference between a running app and a walking app is usually the programmed workouts.

With a walking app, the workouts will be slower in pace and often shorter in distance. They also focus on beginners or people new to exercise more than running apps. Many of them are very user-friendly and have training programs and workouts that are designed for beginners.

Running is one of the best forms of exercise for weight loss, as it burns a lot of calories and is very affordable and accessible.

To help stay motivated , you can follow a plan, such as a 5K training program for beginners. The basic rule of weight loss is that you must burn through life functions and exercise more calories than you take in. If you use the gym primarily to run on the treadmill, you may find that using a running app to track your running stats and keep you motivated to run is a sufficient substitute.

However, if you like to use other equipment and amenities at the gym and enjoy the face-to-face interaction with instructors and other gym members, you might regret giving up your membership. In many cases, it works best to keep your gym membership and use a running app as a tool to supplement your training and help you reach your running-related goals.

Most running apps are free to download, but they may include only basic features. You can make an in-app purchase to access a premium version with more functionality and no ads. Some running apps also offer a monthly or yearly membership. Members get access to more robust and advanced features such as personalized training plans and in-depth data analysis. We looked at 10 different apps from reputable companies to curate this list of the best running apps.

To start, we compared the free version of each app to the premium or paid subscription option. In order to make our list, the free version needed to provide enough features to make the app helpful and worth using, or there needed to be a free trial option for users to decide if the upgrade is worth the price.

We also took stock of the training tools each app provided and only selected running apps that offer tracking features, running routes, graphs and charts, and stats. Bonus points were given to apps that focus on community support, challenges, and ways to connect virtually with friends.
