Things can happen anywhere, and occasionally things happen in Asheville too, like every other city. Roughly miles from the closest ocean-front beach, visitors to Asheville can enjoy the beach-front fun without the long drive at several nearby locations.

Asheville is progressive , leftist, somewhat snobby in attitude but not in dress. Gatlinburg is a down-home vacation spot, a throwback to earlier times, somewhat conservative, and unassuming. Which one you would prefer depends on you. Both have gorgeous scenery. Flanked by the mountains and filled with a community of hippies and hipsters , this North Carolina town is all about culture, local food, art, yoga, music, nature, and beer — the good stuff in life.

The wages in Asheville absolutely do not reflect the cost of rent or buying a home in the city. With a crime rate of 71 per one thousand residents, Asheville has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes — from the smallest towns to the very largest cities.
